Al Hatlani wants list of banned nationalities MP submits queries on visas

KUWAIT CITY, June 18: MP Mohammad Al-Hatlani has asked First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Ahmad Humoud Al-Sabah for the list of nationalities banned from entering the country on work permits, dependent visas, domestic visas or other visas, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily quoting informed sources.

They said he submitted a few queries regarding this matter, including the date when ministry applied the decision to ban these nationalities, the reason behind the decision, and so on.

He also asked the details of authorities or individuals exempted from this clause such as their name, nationality, visa type, reason for exemption and so on.

In the same context, Assistant Undersecretary for Labor Division at Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Jamal Al-Dosari assured that the ministry issues work permits based on the requirements of labor market, reports Al-Kuwaitiah daily.

He revealed that the ministry increased the number of work permits in 2010 by over 42,000 and cancelled the residencies of 69,000 expatriates in 2011, indicating that the total number of work permits issued in 2011 is nearly 137,842.

Regarding the companies that fail to pay the salaries of their personnel, he assured that necessary legal procedures such as closing their files and so on will be taken against such companies in order to pressurize them to pay their personnel’s salaries.
