Need to fix Jleeb drainage system

KUWAIT CITY, June 18: Engr. Eid Shaman Al-Mutairi, Director, Ministry of Public Works Department — Farwaniya Governorate, and his team, along with Indian community representative S. A. Labba, Sharafuddeen Kanneth, Raju Sakariya, Joy Mundakat, Hamza Payyannur and Babu Batheri, recently visited Abbasiya area in Kuwait, which is home to a large Indian population.

The visit was scheduled due to effective coordination between Indian embassy officials, headed by Consular B. K. Upadyay, and Indian community leaders.

There are many places that need fixing of drainage systems to remedy the present situation, said Eng Al-Mutairi, while reiterating that there are several cases of careless dumping. For instance, materials like carpet pieces, pillows, mattress sections and heavy wooden planks were being dumped into the drainage system. Al-Mutairi added that tenants, garages and workshops in the area should take greater care in the items being dumped into the drainage system.

Indian community leaders mentioned that the meeting with officials was very fruitful and they appreciated the efforts of both the Indian embassy officials and the Director and his team at the Ministry of Public Works Department in Farwaniy Governorate. It was decided by all the parties that a review meeting would be held within one month.

Illegal Painting ShopsSak | 6/19/2012 9:21:22 AM It looks to be a good step.Really the residents of Abbassiya is suffering from this drainage problem. If the Authorities can do something it will be great.Another problem for Abbasia residents is painting and denting workshops . They are functioning 100% illegally in this thickly populated residential area.If the Authorities remove this ,then Major part of pollution can be over. Even after paying comparatively high rent ,the residents are really suffering from this. What we found that ,most of this shops are opening in the after noon times. After the ministry office timings for escaping from authorities. Even if the community leaders can do certain steps about this problem , it will one of the good thing we can do for at least for our future generations.
A look at SalmiyaAJAY | 6/19/2012 9:17:08 AM Now that the problem in one of the Expatriate areas is highlighed, I would request a similar visit to Area 10 of Salmiya in particular where the internal roads are full of pot holes and big CAR BREAKERS
