Dashti calls for restructure of Kuwait’s ‘healthcare system’ ‘Al-Muweizri’s resignation has no bearing’

KUWAIT CITY, June 22: Political activist and former National Assembly aspirant Dr Mah-moud Dashti is disappointed over lack of improvement in the healthcare. He added that worsening services in the health sector is caused by the majority of lawmakers preoccupied with the need to enhance the political structure against future elections, reports Al-Dar daily.

Dr Dashti reaffirmed the lawmakers focus on ‘political fortune’, and that overrides the priority for qualitative healthcare, education and other necessary amenities which citizens need. He called for restructure of the healthcare system and explained the monitoring agency should be split from the Health Ministry, in order that it can perform better.

Expressing his view on those seeking the transformation of Sabah Health Region to a medical city, he described the National Assembly bill in this regard as laughable and noted some lawmakers have nurtured the Sabah Health Region issue for personal goals, “so nobody must allow this dream to materialize”.

He supported the idea of sending necessary cases for overseas treatment but objected to any move to exploit this idea as means to guarantee or retain ministerial portfolio.

Meanwhile, Constitu-tional Expert Dr Mohammed Al-Feli was recently quoted as saying resignation of the Minister of Housing, State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Shuaib Al-Muweizri has no bearing because it has neither been accepted by the Cabinet nor approved by HH the Amir, reports Al-Rai daily.
However, if the resignation is accepted, it is necessary to appoint one of the MPs from the 2009 Parliament to fill his position.

If Jassem Al-Khorafi, the Speaker of 2009 Parliament refuses to rejoin the Parliament, the mantle will fall on his deputy MP Abdullah Al-Roumi, the expert added.

He also said the laws issued by the 2012 parliament are legal as per the verdict of the Constitutional
Court, indicating it will be more cautious and legal for the government to have its oath in front of the 2009 Parliament to practice its powers. He disclosed the resignations announced by the lawmakers of 2009 Parliament are a political stung because the Parliament byelaw clarifies that an MP can resign only when the Parliament is in session.

According to Al-Anba daily MP Hussein Al-Hariti, a member in 2009 Parliament has announced his resignation. He indicated the current political crisis can be solved through resorting to the ballot boxes to enable the citizens to elect lawmakers who can achieve stability and prosperity for Kuwait.

“We respect our judges and we trust in justice,” said Al-Hariti. He affirmed he also respected the then decision of HH the Amir to dissolve the 2009 Parliament to rein in the chaotic atmosphere and the political wrangling between the two authorities — the executive and the legislature, in spite of the fact the dissolution was unconstitutional.

He hoped all citizens will take into consideration the good of the country and consider it a top priority at this phase.
