Co-ops plan 20 to 25 pct discount - Ramadan special offer

KUWAIT CITY, June 23:  The Cooperative Societies Union (CSU) has instructed all the cooperative societies to prepare special offers for consumers during the holy month of Ramadan, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting CSU Chairman Abdul Aziz Al-Samhan.

Al-Samhan explained this is just one of many measures the union takes to help consumers cope with the rising cost of living in the country.

He said the union will offer 20 to 25 percent discount on 100 items during Ramadan.

He affirmed the union remains committed to its promise to ease the financial burdens of the consumers through sales promotions.  He added the cooperative societies have been instructed to sell basic commodities at discounted prices.

Clarifying that the union did not specify the period for holding sales promotions, Al-Samhan said each of the cooperative society’s administration can make the decision in this regard.

However, this does not mean the union allows the cooperative societies to operate on their own without any form of monitoring.

The union ensures the sales promotions are conducted regularly, especially during holidays, in cooperative societies throughout the country to ensure that everyone benefits from the promotions, he concluded.
