ICM hails achievements of voided National Assembly ‘Dissolutions of govt, NA show separation of powers working’

KUWAIT CITY, June 25: The Islamic Constitutional Move-ment Sunday issued a statement related to the Constitutional Court ruling which has declared null and void the 2012 National Assembly.

In the statement, the movement said a constitutional government is a delicate balance between the executive, the legislature and the judiciary, meaning all tasks related to the affairs of the country are distributed equally bet-ween these authorities.

The statement said people represent the main power and the dissolution of the former government and the former National Assembly has proven this fact beyond any doubt.

The statement added the people elected members to the 2012 National Assembly and the task of this majority was to introduce reforms and resolve the accumulated problems which had hampered the progress in the country.

Moreover, the statement added, the 2012 National Assembly succeeded in solving many outstanding issues such as the so-called ‘deposits of million’ and the ‘foreign transfers’ and in just 13 sessions the members were able to approve eight bylaws linked to the general development of the country and also approved what it called mini-projects.

The members of the 2012 National Assembly were also able to toughen penalty on blasphemers, particularly those who offend the Prophet and his companions (peace be upon them).

In addition to this the Parliament was able to make other achievements with the support of the people and cooperation of the majority members.

The statement said people should contribute to protect the Constitution of 1962 and the ICM will support all moves in this regard made by the parliamentary majority.

It is also necessary to execute political and constitutional reforms to preserve the future of the country and the future generations.
