Ban on visit visas to reduce begging in Ramadan Al-Naseem co-op board dissolved
KUWAIT CITY, June 25: Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor will coordinate with the Ministry of Interior to suspend commercial visit visas before the holy month of Ramadan, to reduce the phenomenon of begging the country witnesses each year.
Informed sources disclosed that visit visas will not be issued with the exception of those holding higher academic qualifications.
Meanwhile, there’s no truth in news item published in the dailies recently which said 45 companies have been referred to the public prosecution for violating residency law and engaging in visa trading, sources added.
It is noteworthy 45 licenses of companies under violation were referred to Immigration Security for investigation, and the Ministry of Interior also formed a committee to discuss the situation of those companies, the daily said.
In another, unrelated development, the Court of Cassation has ordered the dissolution of the Naseem Cooperative Society board.
The members to the board were appointed by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor five years ago. The court ordered the ministry to issue a decision to reinstate the former board which was dissolved for alleged misappropriation of funds and maladministration.
Meanwhile, a source informed the ministry has rescinded the decision to dissolve the board of the Adan Cooperative Society even though four members of the board have tendered their resignation to the Undersecretary of the ministry Mohammad Al-Kandari to avoid taking the unconstitutional step.
The source added Article 11 of the Cooperative Societies Law stipulates that board members should not exceed nine and should not be less than six, so the ministry regarded the eight-member board of the Adan and Qosour Cooperative Society automatically dissolved in line with the Constitution.
Meanwhile, sources disclosed that a lawsuit has been filed against the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor over the dissolution of the Ahmadi Cooperative Society board.
Two of the seven members of the board have resigned, while there is no reserve member to fill the vacant post. The board has lost its legitimacy and stands automatically dissolved.
