Chest Diseases Hospital among the best in region ‘Founded with forward-looking attitude’
KUWAIT CITY, June 26, (KUNA): The Chest Diseases Hospital is of very high standards and is among the best in the Arab region with many achievements, said heart specialist and consultant Dr Ibrahim Al-Rashdan, Tuesday.
Al-Rashdan, staff member at Faculty of Medicine, told KUNA the previous generations had founded the hospital with a forward-looking attitude and ambition for development and all effort and resources must now be invested to maintain the high standards.
Heart disease clinics and hospitals are critical health facilities all around the world, and require utmost support and care to continue development and keep up with advancements in the field, he said, adding that “It would be much easier to make the hospital a regional center than with any other facility, in view of its current capabilities and staff.
Al-Rashdan expressed desire for more development in the field of research, stressing there is much potential, both human resources and other resources, to be invested towards that end in Kuwait.
As to the latest developments, he recalled achievements of the work of the Canadian team at the McGill Educational Center, noting the team’s efforts have considerable strategic and research significance. The center is a great addition to the hospital, and a most suitable addition considering the fact that the majority of Kuwaiti chest diseases physicians studied and graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
He pointed out the team’s efforts at enhancing performance had so far contributed to considerable adjustments in infrastructure, and the results would be evident in due time. The impact includes improving level of care at the children’s heart unit and the intensive care unit, launch of a heart failure program, heart rehabilitation program, clinical database, and an adequate filing systems, he remarked.
The specialist stressed that interaction and cooperation with world specialists is vital for success, and added Kuwaitis must shoulder the bulk of the work towards implementation of development plans.
