PM commends ‘civilised’ role of security forces during protest ‘MPs must learn to respect the Constitution, law’
KUWAIT CITY, June 28, (Agencies): HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah has thanked Deputy Prime Minister, Defence Minister and acting Interior Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Sabah for the Interior Ministry’s efforts in attaining the safety of nationals during a local public demonstration.
In a letter addressed to Sheikh Ahmad, HH the prime minister expressed his appreciation and delight at the efforts assumed by the security personnel in their “civilised” dealing with a demonstration of nationals at Erada Square Wednesday evening.
The prime minister went on to describe the nation’s security forces as “an example of endurance, patience and commitment” in executing his directions in “a professional, competent and responsible manner”.
He also pledged his commitment to their role in protecting the right to freedom of speech and in administering gatherings.
Meanwhile, former minister of information Mohammed Al-Sanousi has issued a statement on the latest political developments in Kuwait and the Constitutional Court verdict which has declared null and void the 2012 National Assembly and reinstated the Parliament of 2009, reports Al-Qabas.
Respect
In this regard, Al-Sanousi said the MPs must learn to respect the constitution and the law.
In an interview with the daily, Al-Sanousi stressed his statement might stir confusion among the citizens and spread suspicion and uncertainty against the constitution.
He stressed the Muslim Brotherhood in Kuwait has the habit of ignoring the causes of conflict and confrontation, and yet it becomes conscious of their implications.
In the meantime, MP MP Hussein Al-Huraiti announced that he will resign from the 2009 National Assembly, indicating that re-election is the best way to surmount the current crisis, reports Al-Kuwaitiah daily.
“Let the Kuwaiti nation use its constitutional right to elect the candidate who is capable of realizing achievements for the benefit of the nation and stabilizing the political situation of the country”, said Al-Huraiti.
In a press statement that he issued from abroad, he stressed that he respects and trusts the Kuwaiti judiciary, pointing out that he had forewarned earlier through the judicial channels that both the 2009 and 2012 Parliaments are constitutional.
He hoped that all citizens would resort to wisdom in order to surmount such crisis for the good of the nation.
Meanwhile, MP Riyadh Al-Adsani said HH the Amir is the head of all authorities and he issued the decision to dissolve the 2009 Parliament.
“Despite the large amount of money we possess, we failed to build a country. This country suffers from political instability especially after the Iraqi invasion, which has reflected negatively on the nation”, lamented Al-Adsani.
