‘Limbo’ MP backs quick dissolution of ’09 Deqbasi decries characterization of ’12 Parliament
KUWAIT CITY, June 28: MP Faisal Al-Mislem has expressed his support to an opinion given by constitutional experts who say the Amir should dissolve the reinstated 2009 Parliament soon after a government is formed before it convenes a session.
He added, “The 2009 Parliament was rejected by the people and accordingly it was dissolved by HH the Amir. It is only befitting that it should not continue.”
He went on to explain if the Parliament convenes it will only breed unjustified trouble and crisis, so “we call for its dissolution immediately after the formation of the government.”
Meanwhile, MP Ali Al-Deqbasi criticized the behavior of some people and the media saying they are misleading the people by portraying the ‘majority’ bloc in the 2012 Parliament lawless and anarchists.
He called this behavior slander and fabrication. Al-Deqbasi stressed the parliamentary majority during its recent rally at the Erada Square only supported the popular demand “which calls for toppling and dissolution of the 2009 Parliament which was full of bribe-taking lawmakers. He called for new elections without tampering with the current constituency system.”
He stressed the need to respect and implement the Constitutional Court ruling.
He added, “Today, the issue is about the future of the country. To protect the state of institutions, respect the will of the nation and protect the freedoms of the people, their interests and their properties.”
On the other hand, the National Action Bloc has issued a statement saying refusal to abide by the verdict or challenging the Constitutional Court ruling amounts to a coup against the Constitution and protesting the verdicts of the judiciary authority and exploiting the current crisis is like adding fuel to election battles to burn the country.
The Bloc also stressed the Constitutional Court ruling sends a clear message to the government not to rush into making decisions without abiding by its constitutional and legal duties.
In another development, former MP Osama Al-Munawer, in his capacity as a lawyer, disclosed Thursday he has been mandated by some MPs of the dissolved Parliament to file lawsuits to demand
compensation for losses they suffered during elections due to an error of the dissolution decree.
