Drug peddling duo nabbed dumping 242 kg hash in sea Man wanted for KD 2m debt held speeding

KUWAIT CITY, June 28: Two unidentified individuals were recently arrested for attempting to smuggle large quantities of hashish via a boat.
According to security sources, the surveillance system of the Coast Guard detected a motorboat entering the territorial waters of Kuwait. A patrol team was dispatched to follow the boat. There were two individuals on the boat, and when they noticed the patrol team following them, they threw two bags into the sea and attempted to escape but they were captured.
A team of divers retrieved the two bags, which contained 242 kilograms of hashish.
The suspects were referred to the Marine Security Department at Coast Guard for investigations along with the drugs.

Wanted for KD 2m: The Ahmadi police have arrested a Kuwaiti man who was sentenced in absentia to an unidentified prison term in what is considered to be one of the biggest financial cases, reports Al-Qabas daily.
According to security sources the man was wanted by law for failing to pay debt worth KD 2 million.
The same sources said the man was taken into custody for reckless driving in Mangaf.
The daily added at first he refused police orders to pull over and when he finally obeyed police checked his records and found he was wanted by law.
He has been handed over to the Sentences Enforcement Department.

‘Compensate Mislem’: The Administrative Court headed by Counselor Nasser Al-Athari has ordered the Ministry of Interior to pay KD 3,000 each in compensation to MP Dr Faisal Al-Mislem and Muhammad Al-Juwaihel, reports Al-Rai daily.
The ministry had cancelled the candidacy of the two MPs during the 2012 elections and prevented them from contesting the elections under the pretext there were rulings against them.
A court later ruled in favor of the two MPs and allowed them to run for the elections.

Women can do it too: Supervisor of Processing Operations at the Kuwait Ports Authority (KPA) Miriam Abdullah Al-Mutairi is the first woman in Kuwait to have obtained license to operate crane and general license for operating heavy duty equipment, reports Al-Kuwaitiya daily.  
Even as the job falls in the category of heavy tasks and men have dominated in this field for many years, Al-Mutairi has demonstrated women’s ability to work in every part of the labor market, the daily added.
In an interview with the daily, Al-Mutairi said KPA has opened the door for women to work in the field of crane and heavy equipment operation, which for years, has been restricted to men and expatriates.

Officers in abuse row: A lance corporal working for the Ministry of Interior and posted at the Kuwait International Airport has filed a complaint with a police station accusing an officer from the Ministry of Defense of insulting him in front of other employees and passengers, reports Al-Rai daily.
The complainant added this happened when he requested the officer (passenger) to move his trolley because he was blocking the passageway.
The officer reportedly got angry and verbally abused him. The officer has been referred to the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Police Station.

‘She’s mentally unfit’: When an unidentified young woman walked into the Salmiya Police Station and filed a complaint against some teenage girls accusing them of harassing her the police called her brother, reports Al-Rai daily.
The brother said his sister is suffering from psychological problems and is being treated by the Psychiatric Hospital.
The girl was then handed over to her brother.

Salhiya grocery hit: Police are looking for unidentified persons for breaking into a grocery shop in broad daylight in Salhiya and stealing KD 190 cash and pre-paid calling cards worth KD 310, reports Al-Rai daily.
It is reported the thieves threatened to stab the grocer with a cleaver and escaped with the loot.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprits.
