Kuwait raps Myanmar atrocities Call to oust ambassador
KUWAIT CITY, July 1, (Agencies): Kuwait denounced on Sunday inhuman practices against Muslims in Myanmar, an official source of the Foreign Ministry said.
As a member state of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the State of Kuwait is keen to see Muslims worldwide living in better conditions, the source said.
The source quoted a recent OIC resolution calling on the government of Myanmar to put an end to internal displacement and forced migration of Muslims in Myanmar.
Kuwait is making contacts with other OIC member states for putting the Muslim body’s resolution in force, urging the government of Myanmar to respect international legitimacy resolutions bearing on human rights.
Meanwhile, several Kuwaiti Members of Parliament have called upon the government to ‘sack’ the Myanmar Ambassador to Kuwait for alleged atrocities and even massacres committed by the Myanmar government against the Muslims, reports Al-Seyassah daily. This came during a protest Saturday evening.
The MPs who took part in the protest included Dr Waleed Al-Tabtabaei and Mohammad Hayef and former parliamentarians Bader Al-Dahoum and Khaled Shukhair.
During the protest they announced they will be collecting signatures and submit a document to the Myanmar Ambassador to Kuwait denouncing the behavior of his government.
The protestors said the officials who are found guilty should be tried in local and international courts.
The protestors also called for jihad to protect Muslim in Myanmar.
