PM Sheikh Jaber ‘top nominee’ among premiership candidates Trends Center publishes list

KUWAIT CITY, July 2: Trends Center for Research and Studies led by Khalid Al-Mudh-hakah, has published a list of possible nominees for the Premiership from the Sabah ruling family within 48 hours of His Highness the Amir accepting resignation of the cabinet reports Al-Seyassah daily.
On top of the list of eligible nominees for the position is the current caretaker Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak who joined Al-Diwan Al-Amiri Nov 3, 1968 during the reign of Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem. He occupied various positions, including governorship and ministerial portfolio until his last appointment as the First Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister in the cabinet of Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad.
Another personality on the list is Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad who obtained a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from the Kuwait University. He holds notable positions in international sports and ventured into politics on Feb 14, 2001.
He served as the Minister of Information, Acting Minister of Oil and later, the Minister of Energy. On May 18, 2011, Sheikh Ahmad became the Minister of Housing and Development Affairs until he resigned his appointment due to an interpellation against him.
The next person in line is Sheikh Ahmad Al-Hamoud who currently serves as First Deputy Prime Minister and the Interior Minister.
Previously serving as the Interior Minister after the Gulf War, he was appointed the Governor of Farwaniya and also held the Defense Minister portfolio until the government resigned on 8th October 1996.

Obtained
The fourth on the list is Sheikh Mohammad Al-Sabah who obtained bachelor’s degree from Claremont College in California-United States.
He also obtained his Master’s and PhD in economics and Middle East Studies respectively from Harvard College. He was a professor at the Kuwait University before his appointment as Foreign Affairs Minister. He also acted as Minister of Planning and Finance, and resigned his appointment as the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister on Oct 18, 2011.
The report included the current Information Minister Sheikh Moha-mmad Al-Abdullah who is the second child of Sheikh Abdullah Al-Mubarak. His elder brother Mubarak had died early in life, and his mother is the renowned poet Dr Suad Al-Sabah and direct grandson of Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah.
He once presided over the Follow-up and Evaluation Agency for Government Performance, and also headed the Citizens Service Agency.
