MEW warns against power supply abuse ‘Settle due bills in time’
KUWAIT CITY, July 2: Director of Consumer Affairs in the Ministry of Electricity and Water Salem Al-Qasba has said the power interruption campaigns in some areas is part of warning the department conveys to consumers who violate the ministry rules and regulations, exposing the activities of tenants who abuse the power without the knowledge of their landlords, reports Al-Nahar.
Al-Qasba added the organizers face difficulty organizing campaigns of this nature during the summer, but they try to convey the message to defaulters and warn them to pay their bills on time to avoid accumulated arrears, and also help the ministry to provide better services to consumers.

Meanwhile, he discussed the issue of illegal power and water consumption, and heavy load on the primary and secondary transformers, noting the ministry will deal with the issue and regulate the utility in every segment of society to eliminate wastage, particularly in the summer while amending imbalance.
He also said the ministry is studying the technological mechanism to collect bills to facilitate payment via the Internet, K-Net or mobile phone.
Al-Qasba disclosed various kinds of violations were detected during the campaign, such as power theft, change of fuse, direct power connection and manipulation of consumption level.
He noted specific kinds of violations would be referred to Public Prosecution if they are finally classified as theft, “but other violations could be revised.”
He implored all government agencies and institutes to remind people of the need to pay their bills promptly before the ministry starts taking serious measures against them.
