My daughter is studying in India and her residence is due for renewal in December 2012. She is now in Kuwait and will be leaving for India at the end of this month. As she will not be able to return before December, can I renew her residence 5 months in advance?

Answer: Yes, you can. Normally the Immigration Dept allows these renewals two or three months in advance but you can request the Immigration Dept to do it earlier in special circumstances. Normally, the dept accepts such requests and there are no problems.

Residency Charges

Recently I brought my family to Kuwait on residency or family visa (wife and 3 kids). In such a case how much it will cost me to stamp the residence? After inquiring, I have got different answers from different people. If I am sponsoring 3 members of my family I have to pay KD 100 each plus other charges for the first time and if there is additional, then for the fourth I have to pay KD 200 plus other charges per year. It will really help me if you kindly clarify this subject.

Answer:  For the wife and the first two children you have to pay KD 100 plus other charges for the first year while for the third child you have to pay KD 200 for the first year.
For the second year, you will have to pay only KD 10 for every member of the family for each year.
