GID officer arrests Egyptian for forging sponsor’s signature
KUWAIT CITY, July 13: The Ahmadi General Immigration Department officer has arrested an unidentified Egyptian man for forging the signature of his sponsor, reports Al-Shahed daily.
This happened when the Egyptian went to the department to renew his residence and an officer told him that the sponsor must sign the documents. The Egyptian told the officer his residence is about to expire and the sponsor is on vacation out of the country with his family.
The sources said the Egyptian left the department and when he was in the parking lot the arresting officer saw him signing some paper while on his way to a mosque.
After the officer returned from prayers, he saw the Egyptian in queue waiting for his residence permit to be renewed. When the officer confronted the Egyptian with his earlier statement, the Egyptian denied and attempted to convince the officer that the sponsor has signed the papers before he left.
The investigation is underway.
