Children sleeping in cartons

KUWAIT CITY, July 16: Armed with a warrant issued by the Public Prosecution, police recently raided a house at an unidentified location and arrested a drug addict and seized from him hashish, heroin and narcotic pills, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The arrest came following a complaint filed by the addict’s Kuwaiti wife at the Salmiya Police Station.
When police raided the home, securitymen found the children wearing shabby clothes and sleeping inside paper cartons. The wife complained the man does not fulfill his responsibilities or provides money for the family maintenance.
He has been handed over to the General Department for Drugs Control.

‘Pay traffic fines’: The Ministry of Interior is said to have sent a letter to the Council of Ministers to pay KD 125,000 to the ministry which it owes in the form of traffic fines, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
However, according to knowledgeable sources the Interior Ministry also owes the Treasury KD 2.28 million in traffic fines — the violations committed by its employees over the past 12 years.

Lawyer threatened: Female Kuwaiti lawyer Abeer Al-Fouzan has filed a complaint with the Attorney-General Counselor Dirar Al-Assousi accusing a police officer of threatening to kill her and also threatening to cause harm to her family, reports Al-Shahed daily.
This happened, she said, following a complaint she had filed against the officer on behalf of her client at a police station.
Following which the officer was summoned and he signed on a report prepared by police. However, he retracted this during interrogation with the Public Prosecution.
The lawyer then decided to file another complaint against the officer and this infuriated him. The lawyer has appealed to Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior Sheikh Ahmad Al-Hmoud to provide her protection.
