Egyptian swindles Kuwaiti woman
KUWAIT CITY, July 22: The Egyptian security authorities have taken into custody an Egyptian - believed to be part of a five-man gang - who had escaped from Kuwait after swindling a Kuwaiti woman and her Saudi husband, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. According to security sources the gang sold apartments to the victims on fake contracts -apartments not belonging to them.
One of the swindlers claimed he was a lawyer and sold three apartments on behalf of clients using their power of attorney.
The victims reportedly paid KD 80,000 and they reportedly discovered that they had been duped when they checked with the real-estate registration department.
One of the swindlers also stole electrical appliances from the apartment of the victim by using a duplicate key.
Police are looking for the other four men.
Filipina robbed: Police are looking for an unidentified burglar who allegedly broke into the home of a Filipino woman in Hawalli and escaped with KD100 cash and jewelry worth KD 1,000, reports Al-Rai daily.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted the fingerprints to identify the culprit.
