Kuwaiti held for embezzling KD 390,000 from money exchange

KUWAIT CITY, July 23: The Sabah Al-Salem police have arrested a 33-year-old Kuwaiti man for embezzling KD 390,000 from an international money exchange company, reports Al-Anba daily.
The arrest came after the company filed a complaint with the authorities accusing the agent in Kuwait of manipulating money transfers.
Acting on information and armed with a search and arrest warrant, securitymen raided the man’s home and took him into custody.
He has been handed over to the concerned authorities for interrogation.

7 assault cop: Police are looking for seven persons – six women and a man, believed to be a foreigner — for assaulting a policeman inside the Salmiya Police Station, reports Al-Rai daily. According to security sources two patrolmen on duty in Salmiya saw six women and one of them was wearing indecent clothes.
One of the patrolmen reportedly told the woman that she was unwelcome particularly during the month of Ramadan and moreover, it was an insult to the feelings of the people who are fasting. The woman yelled at the policeman and said she is a journalist and boasted that her husband worked for an embassy.
After a short time, the two patrolmen received a radio message requesting them to go back to the police station.
Surprisingly the woman who was wearing indecent clothes filed a complaint accusing the patrolman of molesting her. The six women and a man, believed to be the husband of the complainant, then assaulted the policeman and escaped.
A police officer noted the number plate of the vehicle and said he remembers well that the woman who has filed a complaint was in police custody for committing an immoral act and was released after signing a pledge of good conduct.

Bakers on strike: In what is looked as a dangerous precedence, bakers in Sulaibiya are said to have gone on strike to protest the decision by the board of the cooperative society in the area to hike the rent of their shops, reports Al-Shahed daily.
It has been reported the strike will spread to all branches of the cooperative society if the concerned authorities in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry fail to look into the issue.
Residents of the area are finding it increasingly difficult to find bread. This proves the weakness of the authorities to monitor and control the basic needs of the residents.
Some say these types of issues cannot be left in the hands of the expatriates; particularly this can be looked upon as the State Security issue.
