3 months jail, KD 100 fine for speeding Brochures out on traffic laws
KUWAIT CITY, July 24: In an effort to ensure the security and safety of road users, Security Media Department at Ministry of Interior prepared brochures that contain traffic laws on speeding.
In collaboration with the General Traffic Department, Security Media Department held an awareness campaign titled ‘Reduce Speed and Calculate Appropriately’ by distributing the brochures to speeding violators.
The brochure indicates that the maximum penalty for speeding is three-month imprisonment and KD 100 fine, adding that the traffic officers will record four points for the violator. The officers also have the right to revoke the speeding driver’s license or seize the vehicle.
In case of conflicts and dialogues, the motorist would be fined KD 20 if he exceeds 20 kms/hr above the speed limit and KD 50 for exceeding 40 kms/hr above the speed limit.
