3 months jail, KD 100 fine for speeding Brochures out on traffic laws

KUWAIT CITY, July 24: In an effort to ensure the security and safety of road users, Security Media Department at Ministry of Interior prepared brochures that contain traffic laws on speeding.

In collaboration with the General Traffic Department, Security Media Department held an awareness campaign titled ‘Reduce Speed and Calculate Appropriately’ by distributing the brochures to speeding violators.

The brochure indicates that the maximum penalty for speeding is three-month imprisonment and KD 100 fine, adding that the traffic officers will record four points for the violator. The officers also have the right to revoke the speeding driver’s license or seize the vehicle.

In case of conflicts and dialogues, the motorist would be fined KD 20 if he exceeds 20 kms/hr above the speed limit and KD 50 for exceeding 40 kms/hr above the speed limit.

BUILD MORE JAILSrobert littlewood | 10/20/2012 4:20:08 PM so you think jailing motorist's for 3 months is going to stop this you will need to build bigger jails more than 50 percent of the drivers in kuwait speed and run red lights and if your brave enough to ride a taxi or pickup in rush hour is like riding the scariest fun fair ride they are maniacs who throw you about going around roundabouts nearlly on two wheels only to over charge you for the pleasure if your british or american why does every trip cost 1kd even thou the meter say's 300 fills only to be told the meter is broken and lets see if this is all motorist's or just expats as we all no only expats speed and run red lights in this country

I have personally seen drivers driving when the signal light is red this happens in the newly installed signal light in kuwait city qibla area where no matter who the driver is they just think its their own property and drive when the signal is red The address of the newly installed signal light is at Fahad Al Salem Street,opposite the post office. Please can someone look in this matter.
