Kuwait’s ‘Iftar meal’ funding commended Over 700 meals given out daily at NY center

NEW YORK, July 28, (KUNA): Kuwait Permanent Representative to the United Nations Mansour Ayyad Al-Otaibi lauded, on Saturday, Kuwaiti Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs for its generous donation to fund an Iftar meal program carried out annually at the Islamic Cultural Center of New York.

Al-Otaibi, who is also the center’s Chairman of Trustees, told KUNA that the annual Kuwaiti donation is appreciated since it greatly contributes in handing out more than 700 Iftar meals daily.

For more than 10 years, the Islamic center has been customarily providing Iftar meals for Muslims who flock to the center, located at the eastern side of Manhattan.

The program has been a major success and has allowed Muslims to engage in other religious activities carried throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

Kuwait has been chairing the center for five consecutive years since it provides larger portion of the donations.
