Bid to ensure fresh food Raids conducted in Jahra
KUWAIT CITY, July 28, (KUNA): Kuwait Municipality has carried out a campaign in the governorate of Al-Jahra clamping down on manipulative traders and food merchants.
Saleh Al-Kanderi, the head of the examination department, said in a statement on Saturday the search teams penalized 26 dealers for failing to present a health certificate, for expiration of these certificates and non-abidance by hygienic standards.
The campaign focused on Qaisariah Al-Jahra where a large amount of food products were delivered to the dealers to cope with the high demand during the fasting month of Ramadan. This also prompted store owners to hire unskilled workers at the stores.
The teams are instructed to examine cleanliness of cooking utensils and floors, among other things.
Meanwhile, Ali Al-Quwaidi, the head of the emergency team at Al-Jahraa Municipality, warned against buying expired or spoiled food, namely dairy products, from vendors.
The municipality is seizing such unprocessed products on continuous basis, he said, noting that such campaigns are being intensified during Ramadan.
