Around 1/4 million cars plying Kuwait roads sans registration

KUWAIT CITY, July 29: The General Traffic Department has decided to track down more than a quarter million vehicles which are registered in the Interior Ministry computer network which are running on the streets of Kuwait for more than 10 years without insurance cover, reports Al-Rai daily.
Security sources said the department will contact the owners of these vehicles with a request to either renew the registration or hand over the number plates to the GTD. Failing which the department will not entertain any transactions from these persons.

MP calls for probe: MP Mubarak Al-Wa’alan has requested the Minister of Information Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah to refer Fadak Satellite TV channel and its anchor to the Public Prosecution for demeaning and insulting the companions of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), particularly the Khalifah Umar Ibn Al-Khattab, reports a local Arabic daily.

From Hawalli to Failaka: Police have arrested a juvenile for stealing a car belonging to a Kuwaiti man, reports Al-Rai daily.
The car was stolen from Hawalli and the 15-year-old thief was seen driving the vehicle in Failaka. He has been referred to the authorities.

Police hunt thieves: Securitymen are on the lookout for three unidentified individuals who attempted to break into a store in Salhiya for theft, reports Al-Rai daily.
Reportedly, police on patrol in Salhiya grew suspicious when they saw the three suspects standing in front of a store in Salhiya in a suspicious manner.
When the officers approached them, they jumped into their vehicle and drove off. Officers chased them until Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, where the suspects managed to escape.
Officers went back to the store for investigations and found some tools that are used for breaking into the store.
Investigations are ongoing to arrest the three suspects.
