Evil eye? Fingerprint system at land, sea ports planned
KUWAIT CITY, July 30:Police have arrested a GCC citizen for assaulting a bedoun man who is believed to be in his 30s, reports Al-Shahed daily.
According to security sources the suspect bought a new car and when the victim looked at it, it reportedly stopped working. The suspect then accused the victim of having an evil eye, beat him but failed to pull his eye out of the socket.
When he was taken to the area police station, he admitted to the charge and said even the neighbors know that the man has an evil eye. A case of assault has been registered against him.
Land, sea ports too: The Interior Ministry will implement the second phase of the fingerprint system at all land and sea ports, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting reliable security sources.
The source added this step is being taken after tasting success of the system at the Kuwait International Airport which last year helped to identify more than 2,000 people wanted by law or those who attempted to enter the country on forged travel documents after they were deported from the country and barred from entry.
The source noted the fingerprint system is fed with a large database of more than five million people civilians and more than half a million fingerprints of criminals.
Beggars caught: Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department have arrested 13 beggars during the first week of the holy month of Ramadan, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The daily added the beggars were arrested by a special squad which has been formed to fight the menace in all governorates.
Among those arrested are three Arab women. They were picked up from Mubarakiya and seven women and children were arrested from mosques compounds in the Capital Governorate in addition to three Asians who were detained in Fahaheel.
Eight beggars are believed to be residence law violators. An absconding case had also been filed against them by their sponsors. All those arrested have been referred to the concerned authorities.
Blatant crime: The Jahra Hospital staff has filed a complaint with the Jahra Police Station accusing a colleague of stealing state property, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The complainants said the suspect stole kitchen equipment, refrigerators and heaters and sold them in auction outside the hospital.
The complainants have provided police with the details about the suspect who is believed to be still at large.
Son abducted: Police have arrested an army officer for breaking into the house of his father-in-law and kidnapping his son who was under the guardianship of his ex-wife upon a court ruling, reports Al-Rai daily.
It has been reported the family of the ex-wife had earlier filed complaints against the officer accusing him of vandalizing their vehicles.
