Municipality destroys 450kg of expired food Raid conducted in Ahmadi
KUWAIT CITY, July 31, (KUNA): The fourth field campaign in Al-Ahmadi governorate resulted in registering a large of violations and destroying 450 kilograms of expired food items, Kuwait Municipality said on Tuesday.
Public Relations Manager, Rashid Al-Hashan, said in a statement to KUNA the campaign, conducted by his department, will continue its inspection in all governorates according to the special inspection plan during the holy month of Ramadan.
He explained that the aim of this campaign is to reassure the consumers that the municipality works around the clock to make sure that all food products are subjected to control through inspectional operations in shops and supermarkets.
Al-Hashan has also called on consumers to make sure to check and read the expiration dates before any purchase in order to report any violations in the nearest municipality center in the governorate.
Violations
The inspection team leader, Mishaal Aba Al-Safi, said the violations included opening and running a shop without a license from the municipality, working without obtaining a health certificate, enlarging shop space without a license as well as the non-compliance with hygienic standards.
Furthermore, some of the breaches that took place in Al-Mahboula are running kitchens in basements of buildings without obtaining permits from the municipality and working without carrying a health certificate, which proves that employees do not have infectious diseases.
Aba Al-Safi concluded by saying that the inspections included restaurants, shops and supermarkets in the area where one of the food markets was shut down and penalized for three violations concerning negligence and poor storage methods.
