CSC acts tough, ‘new rules’ set - Severe penalties planned
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 4: The Civil Service Commission (CSC) will soon implement regulations on employees’ conduct in the government sector, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources.
Sources disclosed the new regulations were supposed to be approved on Thursday but it was postponed due to the need to amend certain stipulations. Sources warned some employees might be terminated once the regulations are implemented.
Sources said the actions that may lead to termination include taking bribes, indicating that any employee who receives a gift in exchange for the processing of a transaction, especially if the act results in depriving another person of his right, will be punished for bribery. Sources added those who will be fired from work should not be recruited for another post.
Sources affirmed the new regulations clearly state the way the workers should perform their duties and severe penalties will be imposed on whoever will violate the rules.
Meanwhile, CSC Chairperson Abdulaziz Al-Zaben said the commission has had several discussions on the proper behavior of workers and the need for them to strictly abide by the regulations to eliminate bureaucracy and preferential treatment in public institutions.
In another development, Al-Anba daily has reported that the CSC will hold a series of meetings with various government agencies by the end of August to discuss jurisdictional authorization issues. Sources said several government institutions have committed around 300 violations in this regard, such as the ministries of Education, Health, Public Works and Communications.
Sources revealed the agenda of the meetings include clarifications on the rules and ways to rectify the errors. Sources said the commission had asked the abovementioned government institutions to present their recommendations to address the issue and to avoid repeating the same mistakes in the future.
