Lawmakers warn of destability in nation ‘Issue law against harming unity’
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 6: Bader Al-Dahoum, MP of the nullified 2012 parliament stressed the importance of understanding the dire consequences that could result from the current political situation of the country, reports Al-Rai daily.
He warned the authorities against taking any decision that could destabilize the country.
He asked Nayef Al-Merdas, MP of the nullified 2012 parliament to seriously consider the warning issued by former foreign affairs minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Sabah regarding a foreign agenda aimed to destroy the country.
He stressed that the discovery of Iranian spy networks in the country is evidence of these warnings that were reiterated by Sheikh Mohammad Al-Sabah.
He added that Iran and its alliances have a plan to destabilize the security of GCC countries and as a result, the government should not spare any efforts in stabilizing the country by strictly controlling those who seek to serve such foreign agendas.
He indicated that the issue of amending the electoral system is a part of this plan, as a few individuals are trying to convince the government to approve such a step, which does not serve the public or the stability of the country.
Warnings
Al-Merdas said the warnings issued by Sheikh Mohammad Al-Sabah should be considered seriously, as they were from a man who possesses vast political experience.
He said the government to be alert for any terrorist incident that may take place in the region and to be prepared with an integrated emergency plan for managing crisis.
He approved the initiative taken by Salah Ashour in revealing the practices he committed in coordination with the members of 2009 parliament against the Constitution, stressing that the latter should apologize to the Kuwaiti nation.
Meanwhile, a number of lawmakers and political activists expressed their resentment over the incidents taking place in the political arena, which are adding to the crack present in the society and stressed on the necessity of strongly confronting those who seek to harm the national unity, reports Al-Horriya daily.
Abdulhameed Dashti, MP of the nullified 2012 parliament demanded authorities to issue a law to criminalize any act that harms the national unity, indicating that an American-Zionistic plan to destroy the Islamic nation by provoking sectarian, doctrinal and tribal chaos in the society is currently being implemented.
MP Salwa Al-Jassar said the problem in the political arena is not because of providing laws but in the government’s negligence in implementing and applying these laws.
She said, “We have several laws and legislations that criminalize verbal and physical attacks; however, the problem lies in failure or delay in applying them.”
Criminalize
She further asked, “Why is it necessary to issue a law to criminalize any act that harms the national unity? Are the Ministries of Communication, Information and Interior not able to perform their tasks properly?”
Furthermore, MP Adnan Al-Mutawa said, “We support any tendency that is aimed to fortify the national unity.”
He approved the statement issued by Amiri Diwan that condemned the abuses launched against the grandsons of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), adding that such malpractices are committed by individuals and the Ministry of Interior should take action in this regard before the public intervenes.
Attorney Najat Al-Hashash said, “We support any law that is issued for stabilizing the country since the current situation is critical.”
She added that honest citizens do not provoke sectarianism that hinders the development of the country.
She stressed the importance of issuing a decree of necessity for the preservation of national unity, hoping to propose it to the parliament in the first session.
