‘Labor’ tightens visit visas to restrict entry of beggars Ministry warns of action against violators

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 7: The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor has implemented stricter measures in the issuance of visit visas to prevent the entry of those who come to Kuwait for the sole purpose of begging during the holy month of Ramadan, reports Alam Alyawm daily quoting sources.

Sources warned the ministry will refer anyone caught in the act of begging to the concerned security agencies, in addition to those who will be proven to have violated the rules and regulations for the collection of Ramadan donations.

Sources disclosed the ministry has, so far, not recorded any violations related to the collection of Ramadan donations.  Sources said this is a clear indication that the ministry has taken the right steps in preventing the recurrence of problems encountered in previous years.

The ministry has advised the public to be wary of anyone who approaches them to collect donations as it has been observed over the last years that a large number of expatriates usually visit the country during Ramadan to take advantage of the generosity of the people of Kuwait.  It also warned about the proliferation of unscrupulous individuals who send SMS messages to unsuspecting people to collect donations illegally, sources added.
