Hundreds congratulate Kuwaiti bronze medalist Amir, Crown Prince hail Al-Deehani

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 7: Hundreds of people received Kuwaiti shooter Fehaid Al-Deehani, who won the bronze medal in the Men’s Trap Shooting competition of the London Olympics, when he arrived at the Kuwait International Airport Tuesday. Al-Deehani was warmly welcomed by his compatriots who were jubilant over his Olympic feat, especially since they believe this victory is another way of putting Kuwait on the map of international sports events.

Meanwhile, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah congratulated Fehaid Al-Deehani on clinching an Olympic bronze medal in the Olympics trap shooting on Monday evening.

Accomplishment
The Amir expressed hope the accomplishment would be followed by many others in the name of Kuwait in a congratulatory cable dispatched to the marksman.

In a similar cable, the Amir hailed the efforts of the Kuwait Shooting Sport Federation and its President Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, also the Minister of Information.

HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah both sent similar cables. 

Fehaid Al-Deehani expressed his utmost pleasure Monday for the win earlier in the Men’s Trap shooting competition of the London 2012 Olympics.

In a statement to KUNA, Al-Deehani said that he was proud for making his country’s flag shines in the London Olympics amid other countries which won medals and the honor in such a global event.

Al-Deehani was keen to dedicate the win to the Amir, the Crown Prince, the Prime Minister, and all Kuwaiti people, wishing more progress and achievement to Kuwaiti athletes in all sports.

Earlier, Al-Deehani was forced to play shoot-out with Australian Olympic Champion Michael Diamond after 145 out 150 shoots draw.

Succeeded
Al-Deehani succeeded in hitting the three targets while his rival missed the last one.
Al-Deehani the only Arab shooter who participated in both finals of Men’s Trap competition and Men’s Double Trap competition, failed last week to clinch another medal in the double trap.

Last week, Al-Deehani scored 140 out of a total of 185 targets, almost the same score of the Russian Vasily Mosin who won the bronze medal; but Al-Deehani missed one of the two dics while Mosin hit the two targets.

In another report, two prominent Kuwaiti officials praised on Monday the achievement of Kuwaiti shooter Fehaid Al-Deehani snatching the bronze medal earlier in the Men’s Trap competition of the London 2012 Olympics.

Ministry of Information Undersecretary and President of Kuwait Shooting Federation Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah said in a statement to KUNA that such huge win echoed huge support of the Amir, the Crown Prince, and the Prime Minister to their Kuwaiti sons and sport in all fields.

Sheikh Salman noted that Kuwait Shooting Club, throughout the years, has been following a carefully planned strategy to help Kuwaiti shooters progress and make achievements in such sport gatherings, like the Olympics, mainly through various training camps and participating in huge competitions in the past.
Sheikh Salman expressed gratitude and admiration for winning the second medal in Kuwait history through Kuwaiti shooting sport, recognizing the tremendous efforts exerted by all nationals’ cadets in the Shooting federation, including having such shooting complex range, like the world class Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Shooting complex range.

For his part, Chairman and Director-General of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports (PAYS) Faisal Al-Jazzaf said that Al-Deehani’s triumph comes again to proves that Kuwaiti athletes do have the talent and can make global achievements.

Al-Jazzaf added that watching Kuwait’s flag shine in London due to such achievement, coupled with Kuwait’s winning a medal was a tremendously sweet feeling of pride to all Kuwaitis.

Al-Jazzaf also noted that he telephoned Al-Deehani after the victory and congratulated him on the win.

In the contest, Giovanni Cernogoraz of Croatia has taken the gold. Only one shot behind, Massimo Fabbrizi of Italy took the silver.
