Police arrest Egyptian gang selling people fake phones Kuwaiti held with drug pills, heroin
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 7: The Administrative Court, presided over by Judge Radi Al-Qahas, has instructed a general trading and contracting company and a ready-made cement company to pay KD15,000 compensation to a citizen for breach of contract.
Attorney Abdulmohsen Al-Qattan, who represented the citizen in court, disclosed his client had an agreement with the first company to pour cement mixture ‘k 350 v’, which he purchased from the second company, on his plot. He paid both companies in full to finish the work but he later suspected that the cement mixture poured on his plot did not match the specifications mentioned in his contracts with the companies. He then took a sample of the cement mixture and referred it to Kuwait University for testing. His suspicions were proved true when the university gave him the test results, which showed the cement mixture poured on his plot was below the strength and quality of ‘k 350 v’.
Al-Qattan revealed his client tried to settle the issue amicably but his repeated attempts failed, so he decided to sue the two companies.
Youth dies in mishap: A Kuwaiti youth died and two others sustained serious injuries following a traffic accident in the Al-Ritqa desert, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to security sources one occupant of the car died on the spot when their vehicle overturned.
The daily added one of the injured youths called the Operations Department of the Ministry of Interior but failed to give exact location of the accident.
The Ministry of Interior then pressed into service the ministry helicopter and referred the injured to the hospital.
Egyptian cheats held: The Ahmadi police have arrested six Egyptians for swindling people by selling them counterfeit smart phones, reports Al-Rai daily.
One of the victims was a Kuwaiti. He said when he bought the phone he discovered it was made in China.
The Kuwaiti then called the number which was on an advertisement and the representative visited him. This aroused the suspicion of the Kuwait and he noted the car plate number and informed police.
Following his arrest he admitted to selling counterfeit phones and gave police details about his accomplices.
Man held with drugs: Police have arrested a Kuwaiti man for possessing narcotic pills and heroin, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The suspect was riding in a pickup wagon in Sulaibiya and looked confused when police approached his vehicle.
In a vain attempt to escape, he reportedly mounted the pavement and tried to escape.
Police chased and arrested him and during a search of the vehicle they found four grams of heroin and narcotic pills. The man is believed to be a criminal and was wanted by law. He has been handed over to the concerned authorities.
Pleas in vain: Customs officers at the Kuwaiti International Airport have arrested an unidentified Egyptian passenger for possessing pills believed to be narcotics, reports Al-Rai daily.
However, during interrogation the Egyptian claimed the pills have medicinal value and meant for his personal use.
In spite of the man pleading, he has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department.
Bedoun cheats woman: A Kuwaiti woman has filed a complaint with a police station accusing the bedoun manager of her company of betrayal of trust, reports Al-Anba daily.
The complainant said she gave the manager power of attorney and he misused it to sell her real estate for KD 350,000 without her knowledge and kept the money for himself.
Meanwhile, personnel from the Sentences Enforcement Department have arrested a Kuwaiti man who was wanted by law for committing a financial fraud worth KD 10,000, reports Al-Rai daily.
The Kuwaiti reportedly attacked the police with a sharp object and resisted arrested. He was wrestled to the ground, handcuffed and taken to a police station. He was later handed over to the concerned authority.
Pakistani stabbed: Police are looking for four people for stabbing a Pakistani man and stealing his wallet and cell phone, reports Al-Shahed daily.
According to security sources a passerby called the Operations Department of the Ministry of Interior when he saw the Pakistani lying on an open ground in a pool of blood between Farwaniya and Khaitan.
The Pakistani added four men attacked him while he was walking under the cover of trees.
Four rob Syrian: Police are looking for four people — two women and two men — for assaulting and robbing a Syrian man, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The Syrian working for an advertising company in Salmiya has filed a complaint with the police and submitted a medical report to substantiate his claim.
The Syrian said first one woman visited him in the company and said she wanted to place a commercial advertisement.
She reportedly requested the man to accompany her to an open ground where there was another woman and two men.
The foursome then assaulted him for no reason and escaped with his wallet and two cell phones.
