Egyptian fishermen pardoned Embassy solves problem

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 13: Spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Plenipotentiary Minister Amro Rushdi said efforts exerted by Wael Gad, Consul-General of Egypt in Kuwait has solved the problem of Egyptian fishermen who were caught fishing in forbidden areas, reports Al-Anba daily.

Following the conviction the men were to be deported to their home country, but the Egyptian Consul-General helped revert the decision.

The have been allowed to remain in Kuwait and also continue in their activity provided they respect the law.
Kuwaiti law explicitly calls for deportation of foreigners who are found violating the laws. Although this time the fishermen are given a reprieve, a repeat offence will surely result in their deportation from the country.
