Syrian girl arrested at airport faces deportation
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 14: A Syrian man, whose identity has not been disclosed, has appealed to the Minister of Interior who is seeking the release of his 17-year-old daughter Busra from police custody, reports Al-Rai daily.
The man said his daughter was taken into custody by the security authorities at the Kuwait International Airport for not carrying a visa.
According to the man he applied for family visas for his four sons and his daughter. The visas for the boys were approved but the daughter’s visa was rejected.
When he applied for her visa the second time, he was told the visa had not yet been approved.
He added, he left for his home country and returned with the boys and the daughter. However, she was taken into custody by the airport authorities.
Passport officers prevented the girl from entering the country and sent her to the airport hotel pending her ‘deportation’ after the Eid Al-Fitr.
The father said his family had escaped from the unrest in Syria.
