What’s on, what’s not during Eid Al-Fitr holidays
If you are among the few left behind in the country while most in your peer group have flown out to make the most of the upcoming Eid Al Fitr holidays, do not dismay, merriment may still be on the cards.
Between beaches, parks and other purlieus, there are many local fun spots that need a re-visit and this is as good a time as any to do so.
Kuwait Entertainment City: There is no surer way to have fun than at an amusement park, very few experiences compare to being atop a roller-coaster and enjoying the elevated view, just before a perilous plunge. The Kuwait Entertainment City, spread over a million square meters and situated away from the city will satiate each member of the family, young and old. Nothing releases endorphins quite like an escape from the everyday, from the Arab World to African boats, European cars and even a cowboy arena, the Entertainment City features exciting rides. Visitors can also travel through time in the ‘Future World’ with rides like the Space Dome, the Massive Mixer, the Desert Storm and many arcade games. Ice Skating Rink: While the Olympic spell has yet to fade, those inspired and enchanted can rush to the Ice Skating Rink, learn and practice for the Winter Olympics. The Ice Skating Rink is open on all days of Eid. The rink is open to visitors in one and half hour slots starting from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm with a break of half an hour in between each slot. The last slot will be from 8:30 pm to 10:00 pm. Visitors pay KD 1.5 for each time period. For more information, call 22411151.
Swimming Pool Complex: If you haven’t dived into a pool this summer, it is highly recommended that you do so. The Swimming Pool Complex will be open from 9 am to 9 pm during the holidays. According to information provided by the Touristic Enterprises Co, it contains an Olympic-size pool, 25 m x 12 m in dimensions with a depth ranging from 80 cm to 2.25 m designated for men only. There is also a smaller indoor diving pool that holds four ladders which are 5 m high and two ladders that are 1 m high. This pool is 4 m deep and is designated for men and diving purposes only. The family section consists of a swimming pool for beginners with a depth ranging from 30 cm to 1.5 m. In addition, there are two other pools available that are fully equipped with acrobatic and water games.
Khairan Resort: Khairan Resort has many chalets, a number of restaurants to pack on the pounds, swimming pools, arenas for sport, an amusement hall with arcade games, billiard tables, bowling lanes, etc, available to its guests. Green Island: Green Island is famed to be the first artificial island in the Gulf region. With an artificial lake, a Roman amphitheatre, restaurants and cafes and many activities for kids, the Green Island is sure to provide an enjoyable experience. Magic Planet: Those looking for indoor family entertainment must stop by Magic Planet at the Avenues that features several international award-winning rides and games for all ages. The opening timings during Eid are 10 am to 12 pm.
Live Theatre: If the summer has made you surly, head to the Live Theatre inside Discovery Mall to tickle your funny bone. On the second day of Eid, ALGAS Events presents “That Comedy Show’ Stand-up comedy series in Kuwait: with a group of 3 local comedians Mohammed Aqua, Bashar Aljazzaf & Big Bad Angel. Tickets for the show cost between KD 15-20 per person and KD 150 for VIP tables and are available for purchase at their head office located in ALGAS Tower, 13th floor, Ahmad Al-Jaber Street, Sharq.
