Fish prices fall by 20pc in market Fishing activities increase

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 16: Fish prices have fallen by 20 percent in local market compared to the prices two weeks back, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.

Fishmongers at the local fish market affirmed that the decrease in fish prices is due to increase in the fishing activities with the return of several fishermen after their vacations that began from the start of summer season.

They revealed that a huge number of fishermen in the country are expatriates, mainly Asian expatriates and Arab nationals.

Fishmongers indicated that the price of Zubeidi fish is now KD 7.5 instead of KD 9.

Wholesale fishmongers said they are expecting the fish prices to stabilize, as fishing activities will be easier with the onset of moderate weather during which the fish tend to swim closer to the shores.
