Eid on Sunday

 KUWAIT CITY, Aug 17: Kuwait’s Moonsighting Com-mittee announced Friday that the Crescent for the month of Shawwal had not been sighted, which means that Saturday, August 18, 2012, will be the 30th of Ramadan.

The panel added that the first day of Eid Al-Fitr would be Sunday, August 19, 2012.

The panel wished HH the Amir, HH the Crown Prince, HH the Prime Minister and all the residents of Kuwait a very happy Eid Al-Fitr.

The Saudi Supreme Court also announced Friday that Saturday would be the 30th day of the Holy fasting month of Ramadan. The court said the first day of Eid Fitr will be Sunday August 19, Saudi media sources
quoted a statement by the Court as saying.

Meanwhile, the Amiri Diwan said in a statement on Friday it was pleased to extend His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s best wishes to the public on the advent of the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

Furthermore, the Diwan took this opportunity to relay its best regards also on the same occasion to His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and to His Highness Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. Likewise, the Diwan extended its best wishes on this occasion to the public and Muslims worldwide.
Qatar and Yemen also announced a Sunday start to the Eid.
