PM’s stance on law referral riles Majority Bloc members Al-Rashid denies claims he called on army to put down demos
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 17: The real reason behind the unjustified escalation practiced by the members of majority bloc of the nullified 2012 Parliament headed by MP Ahmed Al-Saadoun is the stand adopted by HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak who has decided to refer the Consti-tuencies Law to the Constitutional Cou-rt, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting reliable sources.
The bloc said three delegations had met the Prime Minister in vain to give their viewpoint on the decision to refer the Constituencies Law to the Constitutional Court but Al-Mubarak insisted to fortify the next Parliament against any appeal.
The bloc members disclosed the lawmakers who met with Al-Mubarak had promised not to file interpellation requests against him in addition to supporting the next government and give it sufficient time to manage its affairs but Al-Mubarak had allegedly turned down their offer.
They went on to say the bloc members tried again to convince Al-Mubarak to change his decision but all attempts failed.
Meanwhile, MP Ali Al-Rashid has refuted allegations that he had called upon the Kuwait armed forces to put down demonstrations. He said to the contrary he had called on the army not to suppress the citizens. He also refuted allegations that he favored the application of martial law.
On suspicions about his financial standing, he said those who do not have any evidence to support their allegations are keen on distorting people’s names.
He went on to say, “I disclosed the fact of Ahmed Al-Saadoun is interested in achieving personal goals and not the good of the citizens.” He added, the man is even ready to ally with the devil to win the position of Speaker of Parliament.”
For his part Al-Saadoun said, “The will of nations was never repressed and the same goes with the will of Kuwait.” He confirmed the forces of corruption have allied and revolted against the Constitution.
Nabil Al-Fadhel, former MP of the nullified 2012 Parliament, commenting on Al-Saadoun’s speech said, “The nation is sovereign as per the text of the Constitution which you want to dodge and deceive youths who unfortunately have not read the Constitution. Go to Article No 6 which indicates the one who resorts to the international human rights organizations tend to harm the country which made him something he does not deserve.
On the other hand, lawmakers of the Awazem tribe are studying the possibility of issuing a statement to support the tribe’s leader Falah bin Jame’ who refuses the idea of the constitutional emirate and the popular government.
An informed source said the statement will include a rejection to the proposal of the one constituency system and the elected government. He added MP Falah Al-Sawagh will not sign it until the image becomes clear after the Constitutional Court issues its decision in the case of appealing the constituencies as he is supported by Islamic Constitutional Movement (ICM) which played key role to let him reach the Parliament.
MP Saleh Ashour affirmed the majority bloc has put itself in the ditch by going against the desires and directives of HH the Amir and for this reason it will lose popularity. He demanded to consult the experienced people in this regard to surmount the crisis.
