Bid to kidnap ‘girlfriend’

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 17: Police are looking for an unidentified Kuwaiti youth for attempting to kidnap his Arab ‘girlfriend’, who is believed to be a beautician, reports Al-Rai daily.
The daily said the youth was involved in a quarrel with the complainant when the latter refused to go with him to a private apartment to spend some time with him.
The daily added the suspect tried to kidnap the victim when she after discovering his bad intentions tried to break the relationship with him.
The suspect reportedly waited in front of her house when she was about to leave for work and tried to kidnap her.
When she raised an alarm, the suspect got into his vehicle and drove off. A complaint has been filed at the Rumaithiya Police Station.
The victim has given police details about the suspect.

Guns, ammo seized: The Nuwaiseeb border police have arrested a citizen of an unidentified GCC state for attempting to smuggle hunting guns and other weapons and ammunition into the country, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to the security sources the arms and ammunition was found hidden under a cargo of fruits and vegetables loaded in a small van.
During interrogation the man admitted to the smuggling charge and said he wanted to sell the guns to hunters in the local Kuwaiti market to make extra money.

MoCI ‘books’ cheaters:
Personnel from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry have issued 50 citations to several companies selling electronic goods and foodstuffs for attempting to cheat customers, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The sources said the inspection teams formed by the ministry had tightened its grip on the market during the holy month and were able to keep in check many abuses.
The sources pointed out campaign will continue through the day of Eid Al-Fitr holidays in anticipation of attempts to deceive consumers.

Food stuff worth KD 1,100 stolen: Police have arrested an unidentified Egyptian employee of a central market for allegedly stealing foodstuff worth KD 1,100, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to security sources the director of the central market discovered the theft when the manager said foodstuff from the store had been reported missing.
The daily added a finger of accusation was pointed at the Egyptian and police investigations showed the man had recently bought a car for KD 850 in spite of his monthly salary was not more than KD 200.
Moreover, he had been working for the company for not more than one year.
