6-month limit
Please advise the residency rule for re-entry of a person with a valid dependent residence. Is it based on the number of days (180 days) from exit or 6 months from exit? Also what would be the case if the person was scheduled to travel on the last day of the maximum allowed period outside Kuwait and could not enter the country due to unforeseen reasons (eg: cancellation of flight)?

Answer: If you look at your passport, you will find a Kuwait Immigration Dept stamp which mentions the 6-months limit. So, its 6 months and not 180 days.
This limit is strictly followed and it doesn’t matter why you could not re-enter Kuwait. As soon as you are even one-minute over the limit, the computers will not accept any entry and the person will not be allowed to enter the country.

6-month extension
I am on a work visa, Article 18, and currently out of Kuwait. Due to some medical reasons, I can’t come to Kuwait before 6 months. I have also informed the company, and they don’t have any problem. Is it possible for me to extend the visa extension limit of 6 months?

Answer: Although such extensions are very rare, it is still possible for you to get one. But in this case it will be your company which will have to apply at the Immigration Dept.
For this purpose the company will need a medical certificate from a government hospital in your country. This certificate must be attested by your country’s Foreign Ministry after which it must be attested by your embassy in Kuwait and the Kuwait Foreign Ministry in Kuwait. It must also then be translated into Arabic.
All this should be attached to an application and presented to the Immigration Department which has the discretion to accept or reject the application.
