If they don’t give you the release, you will have to wait one year
I came to Kuwait on a commercial visit visa in October 2011 and then changed/transferred the commercial visit visa to a work permit visa (Article 18) in January 2012 with the same sponsor.
Later I got an offer relevant to my education field so I got a release within 1 year from the first sponsor because I am an engineer and then transferred my residency (Article 18) in May 2012 to my current company. But unfortunately, what I expected in that company is not to my satisfaction due to the management and other issues. So now I am not interested in working in my current company. So I asked my current sponsor for a release and moreover I have another offer. But my current company (sponsor) says that they won’t give me a release. They are threatening me by saying that they will cancel my visa/residency and send me back to my country, if I ask for a release/transfer.
So, I need a clear clarification whether is it possible for my visa/residency to be cancelled by my current working company without my permission. Suppose if there is a chance to cancel it without my permission then can I stay here in Kuwait or not.
I am an engineering graduate and also I have got my degree certificate attested by the Kuwait ministry.
Note: There is one more doubt, with my previous (first sponsor) I mean previous residency and Isnamal (work permit paper), the designation was engineer. But, with the current company I don’t know what designation they have mentioned on my work permit and residence because they are not ready to give me a copy of my work permit and residency. So I need to know whether my current company can change my designation on work permit/residency. Because I have a doubt that they might have changed my designation to some other category on the work permit other than engineer without my approval.

Answer: If you resign before completion of one year with the company you can’t get a transfer but if you spend one year with them they can’t stop you. It’s only with a release that you can transfer to another sponsor before completion of one year.
So, if you don’t like to work for them you should sit with them and amicably ask for a release. If they don’t give you the release, you will have to wait one year.
Secondly, changes to the work permit can only be made in renewal or transfer of residence but not before they get a signature from you on an application which contain’s all the details including your profession.
So, it is very unlikely any such change must have been made.
