500 inactive Jleeb stores said sponsoring 50,000 ‘laborers’ Ministries team discover fake companies

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 19: A team of officials from Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Commerce and Industry carried out an impromptu campaign in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Block 7 and 8, during which they discovered 500 registered commercial stores that were not functioning.

The team estimated that around 50,000 laborers were registered under the sponsorship of these 500 stores but were working elsewhere, which indicates human trafficking.

This campaign was launched under the guidance of the Undersecretary of Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Jamaal Al-Dosari and was participated by the Director of Labor Search Management and other high-ranking officials as well as 48 male and female inspectors.

The team also discovered large number of fake companies during the campaign. They realized that even though the names of these companies were registered, they were either being rented out for a limited period or are empty without any employees inside the offices.

They also realized that these offices were established specifically for human trafficking and were closed most of the time except the days when campaigns are carried out on these offices.

Al-Dosari announced during the campaign that they will continue such impromptu campaigns against law violators and owners of such offices in all areas of Kuwait, adding that this phenomenon has led to a large number of unnecessary laborers in the country.

He stressed that the only way to deal with this issues is to close the files of these fake companies and refer the owners to the concerned authorities for strict legal action against them.

He appreciated the efforts taken by the inspectors led by Director of Central Inspection Management Department Faha’d Al-Newaim to ensure the success of this campaign and requested them to continue such campaigns.

Director of Central Inspection Management Department Faha’d Al-Newaim also stressed the importance of such impromptu campaigns in all areas in Kuwait to eliminate such negative phenomenon.
