12,000 visit govt’s Twitter on day 1 Health minister’s meet host info posted
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 20: On the first day the Kuwait government opened the Twitter account in the name of Kuwaitna 12 thousands people visited the site but only 16 tweeted but what is surprising is people follow the government account but the government does not follow people’s accounts, reports Al-Anba quoting sources.
Sources said the last information on the site announced the meeting with the Minister of Health Dr Ali Al-Obeid for two hours from 9 pm to 11 pm Friday.
According to the first tweets posted by the government account Kuwaitna will give the government an opportunity to keep in touch with the people to get them firsthand information about government plans and achievements in the public arena.
Various tweets and comments have been posted on the government account and the number of visitors keeps increasing.
The first comment was posted by journalist Bashar Al-Sayeg who said the name used by the government was the name he used as a registered trade mark in the National Library and the Ministry of Commerce. He added he can sue the government for violating Ministry of Commerce and Industry laws.
Some people say the government Twitter account will not be of any benefit for the government. However, the number of followers is expected to reach 100,000 within one week.
