Visit visas

I am an Indian and my salary is KD 286. I want to bring my brother on a visit visa to Kuwait.
Please advice through your ‘Legal Clinic’, the documents required and the procedure for the same.

Answer:
You are unlikely to get a visit visa for your brother. The Immigration Dept says it has ‘restricted’ the issuance of such visas except for the immediate family - wife and children – although such visas are not being issued these days and officials are reported to have received instructions not to issue them for the next of kin – except the immediate family.

My 18-year-old son is currently studying in India and he has a valid Kuwait residence until Nov 2, 2012. I am planning to apply for a visit visa for him on Nov 4, 2012.
Please confirm whether I have to cancel his residence before applying for the visit visa or will his residence automatically expire after the validity period?

Answer:
You don’t have to cancel his residence as the residence of dependents automatically gets cancelled on expiry or even if you are out of the country for over 6 months.
