100 Ryanair passengers stranded at French airport

BEAUVAIS, France, Jan 19, 2013 (AFP) -About 100 passengers were stranded at Beauvais airport north of Paris on Saturday after Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair cancelled their flight to the Italian city of Pisa.
Passengers said no reason was given for the cancellation and no hotels were available in the area to accommodate them.
"We were supposed to take off at 6:00 pm. There was no problem with the weather at that hour, no snow," passenger Tony Calio told AFP.
"The flight was delayed four times and at midnight we were told that the airport was closing and the flight cancelled."
Another passenger, Emilie Duflos, said that snowfall started at 7:30 pm (1830 GMT) but that several other aircraft had left the small regional airport.
About 150 people left the airport in shuttles and were put up in hotels while about 100 were "calmly sitting on the floor of Terminal 2 with only a blanket" because hotels were fully booked, she added.
Airport authorities could not be reached for comment.
