KUWAIT CITY, Nov 2: A Kuwaiti student who was mercilessly beaten and stabbed seven times by a group of students has been admitted to the intensive care unit of the Adan Hospital, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The incident took place in front of an intermediate school in Umm Al-Haiman. The victim is believed to be a student of second year.
He had gone to the school to fetch his younger sibling when the gang pounced on him and beat him with batons because he had scolded one of them for pelting stones at his car.
The daily added one of the suspects has been arrested. Police are looking for the others.
Indian held with seals: The Kuwait International Airport police are said to have arrested an unidentified Indian man coming from Mumbai for possessing seals belonging to the Kuwaiti Embassy in Baghdad, in addition to seals carrying the names of embassy staff carrying financial and administrative credentials, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The daily quoting security sources said the man appeared confused and when customs officers checked his baggage they found the seals.
During interrogations the man is said to have confessed to having another accomplice back home and it is he who had ordered him to deliver the seals to ‘someone’.
The seals have been impounded and the suspect has been referred to the Criminal Investigation Department.
‘Freedom right violated’: The wife of a Kuwaiti officer who is detained in Yemen through an attorney has filed a case against the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Yemen calling for an inquiry into the incident, reports Al-Dar daily.
The daily said in their complaint the wife and the attorney claim the man’s freedom has been violated.
Pills seized from Kuwaiti: During a routine patrol in the area, the Hawalli police are said to have arrested a Kuwaiti man for possessing 15 drug pills and referred him to the authorities, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The daily quoting security sources said the suspect was ordered to pull over for reckless driving and while issuing a parking ticket the officer noticed the man was under the influence of drugs.
Laptop, phone stolen: A Kuwait man has filed a complaint with the police accusing an unidentified person of breaking into his vehicle and stealing the laptop and cell phone, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The incident took place off the Arabian Gulf Street. Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints.
Defence staffer found tipsy: The Hawalli police have arrested an unidentified employee of the Ministry of Defence for drinking alcohol and seized from his car a bottle of whisky, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The man has been referred to the concerned authorities for legal action.
Man hurt as groups fight: A 30-year-old Arab man who was seriously injured during a fight between two groups in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh has been admitted to the Farwaniya Hospital, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The daily quoting security sources unidentified persons called the police and securitymen rushed to the spot and arrested several men and seized from them iron rods.
Woman caught begging: The Capital Governorate police have arrested an unidentified Lebanese woman for begging for alms. She was caught on the Canada Dry Street, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The woman has been referred to the authorities.
Meanwhile, a Lebanese woman who inhaled smoke when her apartment in Salmiya caught fire, was rushed to the Mubarak Al-Kabir hospital for treatment, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The daily quoting security sources said firemen acting on information rushed to the spot and put out the fire before it destroyed the adjoining apartments.
The fire was caused by electrical short circuit.
Man held with guns: A Kuwaiti citizen in his thirties was arrested after three hunting rifles and bullets were found in his vehicle on Wafra Motorway on Sunday.
Security officials on duty at checkpoints in the area stopped his vehicle for a routine inspection and found the weapons. On questioning the citizen, they discovered that he did not possess a license for the rifles.
He was referred to the authorities and a case was registered.
