KUWAIT, March 8 (KUNA) -- Some 27 new deaths were announced due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) in China with 44 new cases of infections recorded across 31 regions, said the National Health Commission (NHC) Sunday.


The death tally went up to 3,100, while infections had risen to 80,859, including 41 in Hubei province, the epicenter of the disease, said the Commission.


The NHC indicated that 57,143 cases were discharged from hospitals, saying that around 23,074 people are being monitored, with 4,021 people cleared.


In Hong Kong, there were 109 individuals confirmed to be infected until Friday with two deaths, while 10 cases of infection were confirmed in Macau and 45 in Taiwan, which has one COVID-19 death.
In regards to infection versus recovery rates, the NHC revealed that in the last 24 hours, the number of recoverees reached 1,661 as oppose to those confirmed with COVID-19 infection.
Meanwhile, the Chinese emergency authorities said that 49 out 70 individuals were rescued from a hotel collapse. The hotel was being used as a coronavirus quarantine facility in Fujian, eastern China.
