Kuwait Oly Cmte chairman lauds GCC’s football cup development

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 16: On behalf of Kuwait Olympic Committee (KOC), Chairperson of the committee Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah applauded the development in the 24th edition of the Gulf Cooperation Council’s football cup which will be held in Qatar from Nov 26 to Dec 8, praising the decision taken by Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain to participate in this distinguished Gulf event.

In his statement, Sheikh Fahad affirmed that the GCC cohesion, unity and keenness to ensure that sports relations within the GCC house achieve the aspiration and ambition of GCC nationals.

He also expressed happiness over Kuwait’s hosting of the third GCC Games from April 4-14, 2020, with participation of GCC member states – Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and the host.

Sheikh Fahad explained that the competition includes 12 types of sports – six main events such as football, volleyball, basketball, handball, swimming and athletics; in addition to six other games which will be decided by the host country.

He affirmed that the committee, in cooperation with the Public Authority for Sports, will do all its best to ensure the success of the games in a manner that befits the status of Kuwait.
