SEOUL, Dec 2, (Xinhua): One person was dead and five others were wounded Monday in South Korea's 14-vehicle pileup, according to Yonhap news agency. A one-ton truck skidded on an icy road in Anseong, about 65 km south of the capital Seoul, at around 6:00 a.m. local time (2100 GMT Sunday).
The truck struck a median strip and crashed into a 3.5-ton truck, triggering a series of collisions involving 12 other vehicles that were driving behind. The driver of the 3.5-ton truck in his 60s was killed, while five others sustained minor injuries.
The one-ton truck driver was not driving under the influence. A police officer was quoted as saying that ice sheets were formed on the road and fog was heavy at the time of the accident.
