44 kg of spoilt food destroyed in the Jahra crackdown

KUWAIT CITY, July 17: In a recent inspection campaign led by the Jahra Governorate Inspection Department in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, authorities administratively closed 10 food establishments and destroyed 44 kilograms of food deemed unfit for human consumption. The campaign also resulted in the issuance of 42 seizure reports for various violations, with preparations underway to refer these cases to the Public Prosecution.

Talal Al-Daihani, Director of the Jahra Governorate Inspection Department, reported to that the campaign identified food unfit for consumption due to changes in natural properties such as color, shape, and smell, leading to the destruction of over 44 kilograms of such food. Additionally, 42 reports were issued for violations including the circulation of adulterated food, operating without a health license, and failing to adhere to public hygiene standards.

Al-Daihani emphasized the administrative closure of 10 establishments as part of the preparation for their referral to the Public Prosecution. He reiterated the Authority’s commitment to becoming a global leader in food safety and security, enhancing community nutrition, reducing disease spread, and ensuring the safety of food for consumers. "We confirm that inspection tours are ongoing around the clock," Al-Daihani stated.

He urged owners and workers of food establishments to comply with the health and technical requirements set by the Authority, warning that violations will not be tolerated.

The inspection campaign saw active participation from the Head of the Taima Food Inspection Center and the Head of the South Jahra Food Inspection Center.
