WASHINGTON, Jan 17, (Agencies): A 10-year-old boy from Maryland experienced a shark bite while on vacation in the Bahamas. The incident took place during an expedition inside a shark tank at a local resort on Paradise Island, as stated in a press release by the Royal Bahamas Police Force.

Around 4:00 pm on Monday, a shark attacked the boy's right leg, leading to the need for immediate medical attention at the hospital. Fortunately, he is reported to be in stable condition, according to the police.

The resort where the incident occurred remains unnamed, and an ongoing investigation is being conducted. When questioned about precautions at the resort, Police Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings declined to disclose details, stating that she has not been to the referred aquarium and recommended reaching out to resort personnel for information.

This occurrence follows a previous shark attack in Nassau, Bahamas, on December 4. During this incident, a 44-year-old Massachusetts math editor named Lauren Erickson Van Wart lost her life. She was on vacation with her husband, paddle boarding near a resort at the time.

According to the Royal Bahamas Police Force's news release, a resort lifeguard witnessed the attack and successfully brought Van Wart and her husband to safety on a rescue boat. Despite CPR efforts, Van Wart sustained significant trauma to the right side of her body, and she was pronounced without vital signs of life after examination by emergency medical technicians at the scene.
