10,000 Kuwaitis study in British universities

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 12: The Regional Director of the British Council in Kuwait Tony Skinner revealed that the number of Kuwaiti students studying at British universities ranges from 8,000 to 10,000, and this number is expected to increase. In a speech delivered at the annual meeting organized by the British Council at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Skinner explained that every year, three million people take international exams through the British Council. Students and professionals earn qualifications that enable them to enroll in leading global academic institutions and enhance their career opportunities. He highlighted the British Council, which was established in 1934, has partnerships with over 200 countries, and operates in more than 100 countries worldwide, adding that its strong and influential presence has helped more than 650 million people access its services globally between 2022 and 2024.

Skinner stressed that the IELTS system has set the standard for English language testing for over 30 years, and it is trusted by more than 12,000 organizations in 140 countries. He highlighted its significance in boosting recipients’ confidence, assuring them that their results will be recognized by educational institutions, employers, and government agencies that need to verify English proficiency. Meanwhile, in a press statement issued on the sidelines of the event, the Deputy Head of the Diplomatic Mission at the British Embassy in Kuwait Stuart Summers said the United Kingdom is known for its long-standing commitment to supporting education both regionally and globally. He highlighted the British Embassy’s dedication to strengthening cooperation and staying involved in activities and events related to the British Council, which plays a major role in promoting the IELTS brand. In addition, the Head of Business Development at the British Council in Kuwait Suchitra Sen spoke about the British Council’s global impact and its reliable partnership in providing IELTS testing programs worldwide. During the meeting, speakers from the British, American, and Australian embassies shared valuable information about educational opportunities, visa requirements, and IELTS accreditation.
