119 Expats Smuggled Into Kuwait with Visas Sold for KD 500 Each

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 7: In a significant move to combat human trafficking, the Residence Affairs Sector of Kuwait's Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Department of Residence Affairs Investigations, has arrested a Kuwaiti citizen and a Pakistani national on charges of trafficking in persons.

Investigations revealed that the suspects collaborated to bring expatriate workers into Kuwait under a company's sponsorship by selling visas for approximately 500 Kuwaiti dinars per worker. The company in question reportedly sponsored 119 workers.

Thanks to the vigilance of the Residence Affairs Investigations officers, the illegal operation was halted, and all individuals involved, including those who facilitated the activities, were apprehended. The suspects have been referred to the competent authorities for legal action.

The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its commitment to combating human trafficking and illegal residency activities. It emphasized its zero-tolerance policy towards such violations and its dedication to pursuing and prosecuting offenders to uphold the rule of law.
